Analytical Research Paper

By now you should have received a topical list of prospective topics to be researched. Your task is to write a double spaced analytical research paper focusing on a provacative issue related to American politics from a social, economic, political, cultural, and global perspective. This is not a report! Your work should reflect a fresh new perspective, that perpetuates creativity and original thought. ie. Asking thoughtful questions. Your paper should include a positional thesis that is supported throughout your body of work. Your positional thesis should be clearly stated in the last sentence of your introductory paragraph. Please restate the thesis in the first sentence of your concluding paragraph. The paper is to be 3-4 pages in length. The MLA format should be utilized by all students that submit a paper. Please refer to the references I have given you to remain in compliance with MLA. Be sure to add court cases that address your position. Your "Works Cited" should show source diversity and have a minimum of 5 sources in which there are 4 different types ie. book, jounals, newspapers. magazines, internet, etc...

Page #1 Title Page/ Paper Double Spaced 10 pts.
(Includes 5 throughout the body of the paper) Parenthetical References 10 pts.
ie. (Smith, 21).

Page #1 Opening Thesis/ Support 10 pts.
ie. Opinionated positional statement that is based in fact.

Page 3 or 4 (last page) Restating Thesis/ reaffirms position 10 pts.
Page 2 or 3 Two Court Cases 10 pts.
ie. Powerful cases that address (support) your position.

(Page #5)Works Cited 10 pts.
(Pages 1-4) Analytical thought throughout the paper that supports the writers position 40 pts.
